Virginia Ruth Woods

Ruth Woods, 82, of Beaumont, Texas died Saturday, July 9th, 2016 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. She was a longtime resident of Vidor, after she retired her and her husband moved to Toledo Bend Lake, she has lived in Beaumont at Lucas Place for the past 3 years. Ruth was a member of First Baptist Church in Vidor. She was the former City Secretary and later became Mayor and served Vidor for 10 years before resigning to take care of her youngest son Keith. She loved Vidor and was very supportive of the Republican political party. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am and a visitation will begin at 10:00 am Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Joe T. Woods Sr., parents Henry and Myra Simmons, brothers Rhett Simmons, Henry Simmons Jr., and Robert Simmons. She is survived by her sons Joe T. Woods Jr. and his wife Missy of Vidor, TX, Richard Keith Woods of Beaumont, TX, brother Richard Charles Simmons of Hemphill, TX, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 1 great grandson on the way, numerous nieces and nephews.
