Virginia Wells

Virginia C. Wells, 89, of Augusta, GA., died Friday, July 2, 2004 at her residence in Augusta. A native of Chatam, LA., she was a longtime resident of Vidor before she moved to Augusta in 1996. Virginia was born to Roscoe Malton Neel and Ruby Dewdrop Hill on August 21, 1914. Her grandfather was of Cherokee descent. Virginia retired from the Vidor ISD after 20 years as a first grade teacher and was a member of New Hope Worship Center in Augusta and a former member of First Baptist church in Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at Memorial Funeral Home of vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004 at the funeral home. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband William R. Wells, Sr. Virginia and William were married August 27, 1932 in Shreveport, LA. She is survived by her sons: William R. Wells, Jr and his wife Nelle of Dallas, TX., Roscoe K. Wells of Augusta, GA., George L. Wells and his wife Martha of Vidor, TX., C. Neel Wells and his wife Janice of Houston, TX., daughter: Sherrel L. Covington and her husband Roy of Augusta, GA., 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
