Wade Hayes, 99, of Vidor Texas passed away on January 16, 2015.
He was born in Beaumont, Texas, to Ellis and Maggie Hayes. His greatest joy came as he fulfilled and magnified his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was married to his beloved wife, Vivian Hayes, for 73 years. Wade graduated from Vidor High School in 1935. He served his country in the Army in WWII. Wade loved life, learning, and teaching his family and friends about the mind, body, and spirit of man. For more than 50 years, he studied and shared “Health Principles to Live By” because he believed that “Prevention is Preferable to Cure”. Wade loved Family History and was a valiant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, where he served in local and Stake leadership positions, including a calling as Stake Patriarch for 25 years. He leaves a lasting legacy of love and faith for his family and friends. He is survived by his oldest son, Dr. Marshall Wade Hayes of Beaumont, and youngest daughter, Rachel Myers of Santa Fe, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian Hayes, his oldest daughter, Sarah Hayes Packard, and youngest son, William Spencer Hayes, and granddaughter, Rachelle Packard. Wade’s posterity includes 25 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Monday, January 19, 2015 at Memorial Funeral home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, on Tuesday, January 20th at 10:00 a.m. The Hayes family would like to express appreciation to the many friends whose acts of kindness and sympathy have touched their hearts.
