Albert Lloyd Rutledge Sr.

September 19, 1942 — October 6, 2023

Albert "Al" Lloyd Rutledge Sr., a lifelong resident of Vidor, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 6th, 2023, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, Texas. He was 81 years old. Al was a devoted member of Turning Point Church and proudly served his country as a Marine in his earlier years. After his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to DuPont in Orange, Texas, where he excelled as a supervisor before retiring. When Al wasn't busy at work, he lived life to the fullest, pursuing a wide range of passions and hobbies. He was an avid angler, golfer, bowler, and softball player, always up for a friendly competition. He loved to travel and had a special place in his heart for Las Vegas. Al had a knack for taking charge of family vacations, ensuring that every moment was an adventure. From day one to his last day, Al was known for doing things his way, and he lived life with unbridled enthusiasm. He enjoyed meticulously caring for his yard, even mowing the "leaves." He took his role in the Pleasant Drive Neighborhood Watch seriously, patrolling the streets on his trusty trike and making sure "M and D Hardware" was doing well, visiting every day. Naps were a favorite pastime, and he had a unique ability to spread joy and cheer wherever he went. Al is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Barbara Rutledge, and their children: Lisa Rutledge Calder and husband James of Vidor, TX; Lori Carpenter and Greg Bagwell of Vidor, TX; and Albert Rutledge Jr. and wife Krista of Vidor, TX. He is also survived by his siblings: Joyce Rutledge of Vidor, TX; Janice Richard and husband Larry of Vidor, TX; and Jeannine Burkett of Vidor, TX. In addition, Al leaves behind a legacy through his grandchildren: Kenny Coleman and his better half, Cheyenne Williams; Kayla Mahan and husband Thomas; Albert "Trace" Rutledge III; and Matthew Rutledge. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Atlas Mahan and Cecelia Mahan. Al touched the lives of many with his zest for life, unwavering love for his family, and infectious sense of humor. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor Inc. Services to celebrate Al's life will be held at Turning Point Church in Vidor, TX, with details to be announced. Let us remember Al not with tears but with smiles, as he would have wanted it. He lived a life full of adventure, and his memory will continue to bring joy to our hearts.
