Annie Lois Davis, 100, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Lois was born January 25, 1925 in Stephenville, Texas. She was the fourth child of Alfred Franklin Stewart and Vera Viola Tatum Stewart. She lived her early years in Stephenville and San Angelo. She trained as an RN in Waco during WWII but, did not practice nursing after her daughter, Joy, was born. She attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene where she met and married George Max Legg. They moved to San Angelo and later to Big Spring where they lived until Max's death in 1966. After several years, she moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma to live with her sister and brother-in-law, then moved to Kearney, Nebraska to live with Joy and David. She met and married Jim Davis in Kearney before they retired and moved to Noble, Oklahoma. After Jim's death, she moved to Orange in 2008 to live with Joy and David.
She was a faithful and active member of Baptist churches throughout her life. She served in many ministries. The last 17 years she has been a member of Maplecrest Baptist in Vidor.
Lois was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, reading, watching game shows and word puzzles. She was an avid Oklahoma Sooners and Houston Astros fan.
She is survived by her children: Joy Valleau and her husband, David of Orange; Rita Tremblay and her husband, Jon of Carrollton, TX; and Barbara Goings of Omaha, Nebraska.
She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren who will cherish her memory and legacy.
She is proceeded in death by her husbands, Max and Jim; her parents, Alfred and Vera; two brothers and two sisters; daughters Suzanne Hare and Sharon Barth; and grandson, J.M. Tremblay.
Lois will be remembered for her sweet spirit, long life, caring heart and the many lives she touched through her kindness and devotion to her family.
