Bennie Jo Brown

Bennie Jo Brown, born to Dr. Horace and Alta Franklin on July 15, 1939 in Thorsby, Alabama, peacefully passed away at her home in Vidor, Texas on the evening of August 1, 2024, at the age of 85. 

Bennie and her loving husband Joseph Brady Brown were married for more than 50 years. Together, they built a full and happy life. Bennie was a kind, loving, and caring person who treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. They remember her as a superb gardener, dedicated animal lover, and wonderful “MawMaw” to her grandchildren. Her personality and character brought joy to all around her.

Bennie is survived by her daughter, Mishelle (Charles Graham), eight grandchildren: Brandi Hicks, Benjamin Brown, David Brown, Jeffrey Brown, Erica Boutte, Dr. Brittany Graham, Ashley Hladek JD, and Dr. Gabriel Graham, along with six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Brady and their two sons, Ricky Brown and Mark Brown.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Christina Royce, Bennie’s gift from God, for her genuine love, kindness, and care shown to Bennie over past 5 years. The family also wishes to thank Jamie, Isabel and Misty for their kindness and care.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor with funeral service to immediately follow at 5:00 PM.
