Billie Frasier Yates, 76, passed away on October 16, 2025, in Seattle, Washington. He was born December 6, 1948, in Newton, Texas, to Morris and Maggie Coplin Yates, the first of their four children. Billie grew up in Southeast Texas and graduated from Vidor High School in 1967. Shortly after, he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country for six years, including tours in Vietnam. While stationed in Japan, Billie met the love of his life, Hiromi, and together they built a beautiful life that spanned more than 55 years. Following his military service, Billie and Hiromi returned to the United States and made Washington their home, eventually settling in Seattle. Billie embraced the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time fishing, playing soccer, and tending to his garden. He lived an active, engaged life and found joy in the simple, meaningful moments shared with those he loved. Billie was preceded in death by his parents, Morris F. Yates and Maggie Coplin Yates, brother-in-law James W. Cowart and by his niece, Erin Nicole Yates. He is survived by his devoted wife, Hiromi Yates, of Seattle, WA; his sisters Peggy Cowart and Nancy Jeanise, both of Burkville, TX; his brother John Yates and wife Betty, of Vidor, TX; nieces Heather Morgan and Katie Wolfe; and nephew Cacy Morgan. Billie will be remembered for his steady kindness, strong devotion to family, and the adventurous spirit with which he approached life. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
