Buddy Wayne Vaughn, a long-time resident of the Orange community, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the age of 90.  He spent his final moment surrounded by the warmth of his loved ones at his residence.  Born in Carlisle, Texas on November 14, 1933, Buddy made his mark as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He was a dedicated member of Faith Methodist Church, where his faith was an integral part of his life.  Buddy’s career journey led him through the corridors of West Orange-Stark High School and the WOCCISD, and the oilfields from California to Mississippi and in the Gulf of Mexico.  His hard work and commitment left a lasting impact.  Beyond his professional pursuits, Buddy found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life.  He was an avid angler and hunter, finding peace in the great outdoors.  His green thumb was evident in his love for gardening, where he nurtured and tended to nature’s bounty.  He also love to teach, whether it be a history class, how to weed a garden, or teaching his daughters the “necessary” life skills such as changing the oil and rotating the tires on a car, driving a tractor and carpentry skills.

Above all else, Buddy’s heart belonged to his family.  He cherished every moment spent with his beloved wife of 69 years, O’Clair Oates Vaughn, and their children, Pamela Elaine Vaughn Cox and her husband Ronnie Cox, Frances Vaughn Thompson and her husband Cornel and his special daughter, Cathy Deaver Hoffpauir and husband Stacy, all of Orange.  Buddy’s pride and joy extended to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless laughter and love into his life.  Buddy is also survived by his devoted grandchildren April Beatty (Chuck), Trey Vaughn (Jaclyn), Skylar Trahan (Ryan), Teresa Tangorra (Mike), Natalie Thompson, Nikki McDonald (Jason), Chad Barbre (Chelsea), Jennifer Grady, Devin Grady (Kayla), Aaron Grady (Kelly) and Garrett Grady, bonus grandchildren Reid Cox, Randi Cox, Marcus Thompson, Michael Thompson and numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Buddy is preceded in death by son Tommy Vaughn II, and daughter Renee’ Vaughn.  Buddy Wayne Vaughn’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.  He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.  May he rest in eternal peace, forever in our hearts.
