Carolyn Sue Godeaux

July 20, 1943 — June 14, 2025

Vidor, TX

Carolyn Sue Godeaux, 81, of Vidor, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Affectionately known as “Memaw” to so many, Carolyn lived a life full of love, strength, and a fierce devotion to her family. She was a devout Christian and faithful servant of the Lord, known for her kind heart, fiery spirit, and the warmth she brought to every room.

There were many things Memaw loved in this life—her cherished dog Josie Rosie Godeaux, the joy of cooking for her family, dancing, shopping (even down every aisle at the grocery store), and never going anywhere without her lipstick. She enjoyed crime shows and soap operas, working in her yard, long drives, the beach, and had a deep admiration for horses and the racing world. Her playlists ranged from Jelly Roll to Elvis, and her driving? Let’s just say she had a reputation for a little road rage when necessary.

Carolyn was a mother and “Memaw” to everyone she met—fiercely protective, endlessly giving, and always ready with a hot meal or a big hug. She was a strong woman through and through, and an incredible cook, having learned her way around the kitchen from her beloved husband, Oscar.

She is preceded in death by her husband Oscar Godeaux; daughters Jeanette and Theresa Godeaux; son Junior Martin; mother Lovie Wimberly; father Sneed Wimberly; sisters Shirley Aucoin and Bobbie Pike; brother Tom Wimberly; and grandson William Smith.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Jackie Andrus and husband Buddy Andrus of Vidor, TX; her loyal dog Josie Godeaux; sisters Mary Ann Wheat and Theresa Lawson; son-in-law Ronnie Reed and step-son Roger Heiss. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ashley Adams and husband Eric, Chelce Harris and husband Chad, Darby Reed-Pilant and husband Caleb, Cody Loggins, McKenzie Koch and husband Ryan, and Khloe Andrus; and great-grandchildren: Bladen Loggins, Zane Smith, Kinsley Loggins, Kaiden Collum, Kutter Koch, Kash Koch, Kace Koch, and Kairi Adams.

She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and the countless friends of her children and grandchildren, all of whom she loved as her own.

Carolyn Sue Godeaux will be remembered for her faith, fire, compassion, and the love she poured into every soul she touched.
