Carolyn Jo Pepper Hanlon, 68, of Mauriceville died, Sunday, October 23, 2022 in Beaumont. She was born in Schneider, Texas to Robert O. Pepper and Jo Ann Clark Pepper. She was the second of eight children. She married Thomas Joseph Hanlon Sr. on December 2, 1978. Together they had five children and were married for 37 years. Carolyn was an avid gardener and was known for having a large and impressive hummingbird flock. She was a faithful servant of the church and played piano and loved music. Carolyn or “Nanny” as her family knew her was a lifelong volunteer of CASA and was instrumental in the placement of so many deserving children into loving homes. Carolyn’s most cherished things in her life were her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and her family. Family was everything to her. No matter what the need, situation, celebration, or urgency, she was there, had a plan, and saw it through. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Hanlon Sr., parents Robert O. Pepper and Jo Ann Clark Pepper, brothers Robert O. Pepper and William “Willie” Pepper, Stepson, Thomas “Tommy” J. Jr., Granddaughter Christina Marie Adams and brother-in-law Glenn Terrell. She is survived by her children Brandy June Yellot of Vidor, Chad and wife Tammy Lemons of Mauriceville, Trudy Garrison of Vidor, and Cindy and Ricky Rutledge of Vidor. Grandchildren, Jana Blevins of Sugar Land, Dwayne Anderson of Vidor, Thomas J. Hanlon III of Dayton, Randall J Hanlon of Vidor, Chelsea Hanlon and Keith Hanlon all of Dayton, Kayla Carrington, Mark and wife of Amber Carrington all of Bridge City, Clayton Lemons of Mauriceville, Hannah Lemons of Orange, Britney and husband Ryan Woods and Alyssa Lemons, Justin and wife Hannah Journeay all of Mauriceville, Jacob Jones of Longview, and Ricky Taylor Rutledge of Vidor, TX, as well as numerous great grandchildren. Also, by brothers and sisters Barbara Terrell of Liberty City, Reba Sue Marburger of Yoakum, David Pepper Sr of Big Sandy, Norma Hunter of Liberty City, Clifford and wife Karen Pepper of New London, and brothers in law Randy Hunter of Kilgore and Gary Marburger of Livingston. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.The family requests that in lieu of flowers please make donations to CASA.
