Darrell Bruce Roberts

Darrell Bruce Roberts, a devoted husband, loving father, and proud veteran, passed away on Friday, August 25th, 2023, at the age of 75, surrounded by his family at his home in Bridge City, TX. He had been a longtime resident of Vidor, TX.

Darrell's unwavering commitment to his country was evident through his service during the Vietnam War as a member of the US Army. His dedication and bravery were recognized with the awarding of two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his exceptional service during his time in the military.

Outside of his service, Darrell was known for his passion for bowling, spending countless hours honing his skills and enjoying friendly competition. Nature held a special place in his heart, and he often found solace and joy in outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and golfing. His family will forever remember his infectious love for the outdoors.

Darrell's true happiness was found in the company of his family. He cherished the moments spent with his wife of 51 years, Janelle Roberts of Bridge City, TX, creating a life filled with love and shared experiences. His daughters, Cathi Holmes and Tim of Vidor, TX; Patti Roberts and her partner Damon Massengill of Bridge City, TX; and Jami Roberts of Vidor, TX, were a source of pride and joy in his life.

He is also survived by his brother James McKinney of Tomball, TX, and his sister Darline Trahan of Magnolia, TX.

Darrell's legacy extends to his 7 grandchildren: Ashton, Toni, Devyn, Kenzie, Sydni, Damon Jr., and Payton, as well as his 7 great-grandchildren: Noah, Laityn, Landyn, Branson, Easton, Gracelyn, and Weston. He reveled in their accomplishments and cherished every moment spent with them, especially attending their sporting events, which brought him immense pride.

The family will receive friends and well-wishers during the visitation on Monday, August 28, 2023, at New Hope Church of God from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service in celebration of Darrell's life will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at New Hope Church of God at 2:00 PM, followed by interment at Del Rose Cemetery in Vidor.

Darrell Bruce Roberts will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his love for his family, and his zest for life's simple pleasures. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
