David Earl Ardis, 78, of Vidor, passed away on Sunday, October 19th, 2025, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont.
A native of Denver, Colorado, David was a longtime resident of Vidor and a proud graduate of Vidor High School, Class of 1965. He went on to serve his country in the United States Army and later retired as a Process Operator from Big Hill in Fannett, Texas.
David enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; peaceful days spent fishing and hunting and sharing his love of cooking with family and friends. He was best known for his world-renowned “SOS,” which was a staple at every family breakfast. When he wasn’t cooking or outdoors, you could often find him at the local flea market, visiting with friends and swapping stories, or down by the water feeding the catfish with dog food; something that never failed to make him smile.
His greatest joy came from being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless laughter and love into his life.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Saundra “Diane” Ardis. Parents Howard and Helen Ardis, brother Raymond Ardis, sister Katherine Ardis and sister Alice Wingate.
He is survived by his children, Shauna Ardis of Vidor, TX, and Dana Richard and husband Harry of Many, LA; four grandchildren, Hillary Crimm and husband Gus, David Campbell, Grace Campbell, and Holly Van Dorn and husband Nicholas; and five great-grandchildren, Audrey, Caroline, Rylee, Olivia, and JJ.
David will be remembered for his devotion to family, his warm heart, his love of a good conversation, and his appreciation for the simple, genuine moments that made life rich.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you simply take a moment to go fishing, share a good meal, or spend time with family; just as David loved to do.
