In Loving Memory of Delbert Self Jr.
Delbert Self Jr., 82, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on May 21, 2025, at Jefferson Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born in Long Beach, California, Delbert was a longtime resident of Beaumont. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Roswell Air Force Base, where he developed a strong sense of patriotism. After his military service, he enjoyed a successful career as a construction manager, overseeing various projects across the United States, including the Galleria Waterfall in the Galleria in Houston.
Delbert was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to hard work, which were hallmarks of his character. He believed that contributing to society was not only a responsibility but also a privilege. His financial generosity and commitment to service were evident in his over 20 years with Meals on Wheels, where he made a significant impact on the lives of many. His contributions reflected his deep sense of responsibility and care for others, as he consistently sought to uplift those around him.
A man of faith, Delbert attended Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont and supported New Prospect Church in Pioneer, Louisiana. He found strength and guidance in his daily reading of the Bible, which was a cornerstone of his life. In his free time, he also found solace and adventure on the open road, riding his cherished Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
Delbert loved his family deeply, and that love was reciprocated by his daughters, Sherry Self Boles and her husband Brian of Vidor, TX, and Debra Ann Boroski and her husband Lyle of Round Rock, TX. He was a proud grandfather to Travis Boles, Trent Boles, Thomas Woo, Elisha Woo, and Daniel Woo, who will always remember him for his strength, unwavering support, and the love he shared with them.
He was preceded in death by his son, Delbert Self III; his sisters, Rosie Brewer and Betty Farrar; and his parents, Delbert Self Sr. and Paulina Self.
Delbert will be remembered as a multifaceted man—one who balanced a fierce spirit with a deep love for family, faith, and community. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and unique personality will continue to resonate with those who knew him.
