Edward Richard

Edward Joseph Richard, 84, of Port Neches died Monday, January 2nd, 2023 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas. He was born on October 4th, 1938 in Labadieville, Louisiana. He was a longtime resident of Vidor but had been living in Port Neches for 5 years. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 6 years as an Air Traffic Controller and was a Senior Airman. He retired from Firestone-Bridgestone after 41 years of faithful service in Lake Charles, Louisiana and Orange, Texas. Eddie loved fishing in the Louisiana bayous and tributaries as well as NHRA drag racing and tinkering in his garage, which was a place of great comfort to him. He was an easy man to please. He was a loving husband to Edytha, and a supporting, loving Dad and "Pappa Eddie" to his children and grandchildren. Louisiana Crawfish Boils were another of Eddie's passions. He had a custom handmade stainless steel cooker and basket with custom paddle for stirring that would make any cajun proud! He also loved and enjoyed their dogs, Chocka and Saylor. He was also an avid fan of LSU football. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Visitation will be held 9:00 AM Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. The Funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM also at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Interment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Edytha Richard of Port Neches, TX, his children: Ed Napier, Michael and wife Debbie Napier, Rachal and husband Ricky Pujol, Stephen and wife Donna Richard, and Daniel Richard, his stepchildren: Seaborn Wilson Chavers Jr. and wife Debbie, Edytha Forest Barber and husband Wayne, and Belinda Norman and husband Morris, his brother Carrol N. Richard and sister Helena R. Thibodeaux. He will also be loved and missed by an abundance of wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward Clifton Richard and Maude Landry Richard and one step child Gerald Van Chavers.
