Evelyn Ernestine Case

September 25, 1939 — June 8, 2022

Evelyn Ernestine Case, 82, of Vidor left this earth on June 8, 2022 to begin her heavenly eternal life, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She passed from this world surrounded by her family. Ernestine was born in Olla, Louisiana on September 25, 1939 to Ernest Woodrow and Ola LaVerne Collett. They moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana where she attended high school, and was a member of the Kiltie’s, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1957. Ernestine worked as a secretary at The City of Lake Charles before she and Bob were married, and bought many birthday and Christmas gifts for her siblings with her income, helping to supplement her family’s income as a young woman. In July of 1961, she was married to Bob Case, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, who was in the Navy at the time, in California. After they were married, they moved to San Diego. They eventually moved to Vidor, Texas in 1966 where they bought a home, and would raise their family, to include Bobby, Pam & Joey. When Joey started school, Ernestine worked in the school cafeteria for years to make extra “fun” money for the family. In this way, she could also keep up with the children while they were at school (*wink, *wink). Jesus, family and home always came first to Ernestine. After church every Sunday, she would cook a huge meal for all the family to enjoy. Everyone was welcome at her table. She was a fabulous cook, and always included a delicious dessert! She had an insatiable taste for sweets; baking cookies, cakes, and ice cream. Ernestine loved the holidays and celebrations. She always had parties for each of her children’s birthdays where she made their favorite meal, and of course, their favorite dessert! She had a way of making everyone feel loved and special. Because of Ernestine’s career with the School District, the Family was able to take the most wonderful vacations! Notably, the Case’s spent a month in California, were able to travel to New York to visit Bob’s extended family, and was able to make a trip to Florida with family friends. The Family took a vacation together every summer, and as a result, Bobby, Pam and Joey have the most wonderful memories! Ernestine and Bob celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in July 2021, which was a major milestone in their marriage. Their dedication to their marriage, their family and their devotion to one another are the foundations of the Case Family. Their example to their children is their legacy and a shining example of what good looks like. Ernestine is survived by her husband, Bob Case of Vidor, Sons, Bobby Case, and his wife, Carol of Beaumont, and Joey Case, and his wife, Tamara of Vidor, and Daughter, Pam Case of Houston, TX. Grandchildren include Lauren Case, Jordan & Cory Camarata, Jaime Case, and Matthew Case. Brothers include H.L. Collett & his wife Melba of Jasper; Charles Collett & his wife Sue of Oklahoma. Olan Collett, and his wife Shirley of Florida. Glen Collett and his wife Nancy of Lake Charles.
