Ewell Shelley

Ewell Prentice Grant Shelley, 82, a cherished resident of Vidor, passed away on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas. Born and raised in Frankfort, Indiana he later relocated to Vidor where he was a longtime member of the community.

Ewell proudly served his country as a member of the US Marine Corps, demonstrating his dedication and commitment to his nation. In his leisure time, he found solace in the simple pleasures of life, enjoying fishing trips and friendly games of pool with friends.

One of Ewell's favorite pastimes was feeding pigeons in the Market Basket parking lot, where he found joy in connecting with nature and the world around him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Rhonda Smith, and husband Alvin of Vidor, TX, as well as siblings Madonna Ritter and husband Dave of Indiana, Terry Shelley and wife Carol of Indiana, and Tonya Heaton and husband Mike of Indiana. Ewell also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Kourtney Hannebohn and husband Josh, Kierstyn Pe Benito and husband Neilbert, Zach Parker and wife Shabri, and Zoey Parker and wife Mandie.

Ewell was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Shelley, and siblings Judy Mann, Bill Shelley, Bob Shelley, Pam Shelley, and Brenda Cottrell. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him, and his legacy of service and kindness will continue to inspire others.
