Florence Mildred Perry, lovingly known by many as Ike, Mother, Granny, GG, and 3Gig, was born on May 6, 1927, in Grandview, Oklahoma, to Norval Riggs and Emma Lee Smith Riggs. She passed away peacefully after a long and meaningful life surrounded by the love of her family.Mildred grew up in the Lubbock and Levelland, Texas area alongside her older siblings, Verna Mae and Clifton. On September 12, 1944, she married the love of her life, Thomas Truman Perry. In January of 1959, Truman and Mildred made their home in Vidor, Texas, where she lived for the remainder of her life and became a cherished member of the community.Mildred retired from TG&Y, where she worked for many years in the fabric department, a job that suited her creative and helpful nature. In retirement, she found joy in gardening, working on crossword puzzles and word searches, reading western novels, cooking for her family, and faithfully watching Judge Judy. Above all else, she loved watching and spending time with her three generations of grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of her life.She was a faithful member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, where her quiet strength and devotion were well known.Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Truman Perry; her siblings, Verna Mae Dodson and Clifton Riggs; and her children, Joe Dwayne Perry, Sr., Doyle Edward Perry, Mary Elizabeth Linscomb, and Truman Eldon Perry.She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Faye Lawrence; daughters-in-law, Betty Perry and Louise Perry; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.Mildred will be remembered for her steadfast love of family, her quiet wisdom, and the generations she helped shape through her kindness and devotion.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
