Harold Roy Whitmire

September 4, 1965 — July 6, 2024

Vidor, TX

Harold "Roy" Whitmire, 58, of Vidor, Texas, died peaceful in his sleep at home on 07/06/2024.

He was born in Winnie, Texas on September 4, 1965, to William Allen "Buck" Whitmire and Gloria M Marin. Roy attended Vidor High School and graduated in 1984 before joining the US Navy as a Dental Technician and served at Kings Bay Base in Georgia, on USS Tennessee. He later worked for Pepsi Company in New Orleans, Louisiana and then for Frito Lay in Gulfport, Mississippi. Later moving back to New Orleans and working as a bricklayer foreman for many years.

Roy was the life of the party, always entertaining with his jokes and comical humor. He was always full of jokes and smiles. His favorite joke was to make people spell the word sock. S.O.C.K.S. Then he'd laugh at how he just taught you Spanish. Because the phrase, "eso so que es...it is what it is" sounds just like you are spelling the word socks!!

He enjoyed sports, especially football, cheering on his beloved Vidor Pirates, LSU Tigers, and New Orleans Saints. Occasionally liked to gamble on the horses at Delta Downs or pick up a few lottery tickets for light fun.

He loved eating good food and spending time with his family, especially the kids. Because he was a big kid at heart, always passing out treats to the little ones.

Roy was preceded in death by his father William Allen "Buck" Whitmire, brother William Allen "Billy" Whitmire, sister Samantha Kay Marcione, brother Stephen Wayne Whitmire, brother-in-law Johnny Placker and nephew Phillip Jordan Crisman. He is survived by his mother, Maria Gloria Whitmire of Vidor, sister Donna Placker of Malvern Arkansas, brother John Whitmire of Vidor, Tx, sister Eva Pillow and her husband, Trent of Vidor, Tx, sister Christina Whitmire of Vidor, Tx, brother David Whitmire and his wife Felisha of Vidor, Tx, and 21 nieces and nephews.
