Janie Laurine Brown

Janie Laurine Brown, 64, of Vidor died Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy, Tx. She was a lifelong resident of Vidor. Janie attended Spindletop Center in Beaumont for many years where she enjoyed participating in numerous activities, including bowling in The Special Olympics. She enjoyed watching her nephews and nieces growing up and cheering for them at all their events. Janie was born with Down Syndrome. She only saw the good in life and in the people she met. She took great joy in the little things in life. We loved the sound of her voice saying “Oh, Goody Goody”, when she was happy. It could have been something as simple as getting an order of nachos. Her excitement was like she was experiencing nachos for the first time. Her exuberance was irresistible. You couldn’t help but be excited with her. She loved all of her family. She constantly and generously showed her immense love for all of us. She didn’t care about what a person looked like or how wealthy they were. She treated everyone with kindness. We should all strive to live our lives like our sweet sister did. See wonder in the little things and treat every experience as if it’s the first time you’ve done it. Don’t judge others, just love them. Do us a favor, the next good thing that happens to you say, “Oh, Goody Goody” in honor of Janie. Trust us, it will make you smile. Janie was preceded in death by her father and mother Allen and Doris Brown, sisters Judy Lewing and Jennifer Brown. She is survived by her siblings James and wife Julie Brown of Vidor, Tx, Janice and husband Sonny Hamilton of Groves, Tx, Joan and husband David Cordes of Cypress, Tx, brother-in-law Arthur “Chubby” Lewing of Vidor, Tx, 5 nephews and 2 nieces and numerous great nephews and nieces. Janie’s services will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 at Vidor Memorial Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 12:00pm, the funeral service will follow at 2:00pm. Internment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.
