Jay D. Bradshaw, 78, of Vidor passed away Sunday, February 12th, 2017 at his residence after fighting a long and courageous fight with COPD. Jay was born in Lilbert, Texas, his parents moved the family to Douglass, Texas in 1947 where he met and married Patsy Molandes and moved to Vidor in 1957 where they raised their only child, Mellisa. Jay was a member of Friendship Bible Baptist Church in Vidor and retired from Local Union #450 where he was a heavy equipment operator. Jay served his country in the US Army. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jay also raised cattle. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Lairds Funeral Home in Nacogdoches, Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Burial will take place at Bonaldo Cemetery in Nacogdoches, Texas. Jay was preceded in death by his parents Dewey "Buck" and Ida L. Bradshaw. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Patsy Bradshaw of Vidor, TX, daughter Mellisa Blacketer and her husband Tommy of Mauriceville, TX, brothers Billy Bradshaw and his wife Carole of Nacogdoches, TX, Dewey Wayne Bradshaw and his wife LaVerne of Garrison, TX, sisters Blenda McGee and her husband Lex of Douglass, TX, Gaylia Gibson and her husband Paul of Central Heights,TX, 1 grandson Damon Bailey, numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family and friends and his beloved pet, Crybaby. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Friendship Bible Baptist Church in Vidor, TX.
