Jerry Dewitt, age 81, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on January 20th, 2024. Born on September 11th, 1942, Jerry was a proud lifelong resident of Vidor. On October 26th, 1962, Jerry entered into matrimony with his late wife, Joyce Dewitt, marking the beginning of a union that lasted until her peaceful passing on May 28th, 2022. Together, they shared 60 years of love, commitment, and countless cherished memories. Jerry was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clyde and Shirley, as well as his beloved wife Joyce. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by his daughter Shelley, son Douglas, grandson Dakota and wife Anna, and two great-grandsons, Hogan and Hunter. A dedicated and hardworking individual, Jerry devoted 37 years of his life to Temple Inland before embracing a well-deserved retirement. His strong work ethic was surpassed only by his love for family. Jerry was a pillar of support for those he cared about, and his devotion to his family was unwavering. In his leisure time, Jerry found solace in the great outdoors. An avid outdoorsman, he reveled in the simple joys of hunting and fishing. These pursuits were not just hobbies; they were a reflection of his deep appreciation for nature and the tranquility it brought into his life. As we bid farewell to Jerry Dewitt, we remember a man whose impact on the lives of those around him was immeasurable. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy of love, dedication, and the joy he found in life's simple pleasures will forever endure in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
