Rev. Jerry L. Smith

December 10, 1956- November 19th, 2021

Rev. Jerry L. Smith, of Vidor TX, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on the morning of November 19th. No longer confined to a body that suffered with pain, discomfort, medicine, or doctors. He now rejoices in the presence of the One he loved, served, and spent his life pointing others to.

Jerry was the proud son of Rev. Vester & Billie Smith. Growing up in a pastors home with humble beginnings, hard work, and a family full of love, was something he cherished. His parents instilled in him a love for God and others. His authenticity was never questioned, and giving heart unmatched.

He loved to travel and take in the beauty of the world around him. His ideal place would be somewhere with cool weather, scenic views, and not too busy. Smith Family reunions were a highlight on his calendar and favorite destination to be. Catching up with the family, laughter, stories, golf tournaments, talking football, and serious domino games was legendary at Smith reunions.

On October 12,1973, he convinced a 15yr old preachers daughter, JoLynn Menard, to elope with him to Mexico and marry. Recently celebrating 48yrs together, Jerry & Jo have faithfully loved one another and dedicated themselves to God’s call upon their lives. Together they have pastored five churches in the Assemblies of God, and presided over three Christian Schools. Pastor Smith’s dedicated service has impacted hundreds of lives and a generation of young people. Having returned back to his home town of Vidor.
