Jewel "Fay" Faydean Self

Jewel "Fay" Faydean Self, of Vidor, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, April 20th, 2025. She was a native of Boon Hill, North Carolina, and had made Vidor her home for many years.

Fay was a member of First Baptist Church of Vidor and found great joy in the simple, meaningful things in life. A homemaker through and through, she poured love into her family and her home, creating a warm and welcoming space for all who entered. She enjoyed fishing, tending her garden, and spending time outdoors. She especially adored her faithful dog, Sadie, who was always by her side.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Buddy Self of Vidor, TX; her children, Larry Self and wife Kathy of Baytown, TX, and Teri Young of Vidor, TX; and her brothers, Tommy Godwin and wife Ann of Garner, NC, and Eddie Godwin and wife Gloria of Smithville, NC. Fay was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and a great-grandmother to one great-grandson.

Fay will be remembered for her quiet strength, her nurturing heart, and the way she always made those around her feel loved.
