Jimmy Lee Sherman

March 29, 1942 — February 11, 2023

Jimmy Lee Sherman Sr., 80, of Vidor,Texas passed away peacefully at home with family at his bedside on Saturday, February 11th, 2023. Jim lived a simple but full life of faith and dedication and will be remembered as a loyal husband, family man and friend to many. He was a longtime resident of Vidor and he worked diligently to provide for his family having worked for Texas Eastern for 35 years but also many odd jobs and “side hustles” doing what was necessary to meet their needs. Jim came to know Jesus as a teenager but grew in his faith becoming a dedicated servant and child of God. He served faithfully as a deacon for over forty years at Trinity Baptist, First Baptist High Island and later Harmony Baptist church. While there might have been little free time and limited funds during his lifetime, Jim made it a priority to spend time with family. For example, he loved to go fishing; However sometimes only spent the day just baiting the hooks & untangling lines just so he could be with his children/grandchildren and they could experience the fun. He enjoyed watching shows and reading about westerns, history and theology. Jim was no stranger to difficulties even tragedies having dealt with and overcome many heartaches and setbacks throughout his lifetime including loss of children, property, home and disability. Nevertheless, his conviction was strong, faith was unwavering, his heart was genuine and witness was strong as he worked toward hearing those iconic words “Well Done thou good and faithful servant”. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. A memorial service and celebration of Jimmy’s life will held on Saturday March 4, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home prior to memorial for family and friends.
