Jimmy Walters

August 29, 1945 — May 16, 2023

Jimmy Walters, 77, of Evadale, TX passed away on May 16, 2023. Jimmy was born on August 29, 1945 in Vidor, TX to Frank and Agnus Walters.

Jimmy graduated from Vidor High School and served two years in the United States Army. While home on leave he met the love of his life, Elizabeth. Shortly after, the two would marry and spend the next 55 years together raising children and taking care of one another. Beth died just two months before Jimmy decided to join her. He is

survived by his sister Alice Nash of Vidor, TX ; daughter, Tracy Graves (Adam)

of Evadale, TX; son, Carlin Walters (Michelle) of Porter, TX, and five grandchildren: McCartney Graves of Boston, MA; Matthew Graves, Cpl,

Jacksonville, NC; Carley Walters of Austin, TX; Joseph Walters and Luke Walters of Porter, TX.

Jimmy worked for Houston Chemical which later became PPG and Lyondell. After retirement, he worked another 15 years at ExxonMobile.

Born and raised in Vidor, Jimmy was well-known in the community. He was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where over the years he served as a lector and member of the parish council. He liked to go to the horse races in Louisiana and could often be found on the golf course at Riverwood. However, his favorite pastime was watching his children’s activities. For years he was a season ticket holder for Vidor Pirate football games and rarely missed a Friday night.

Later in life, Jimmy loved his grandchildren and could often be found at events cheering them on and yelling at any referee that dared to call a foul or penalty directed at his precious babies. Many people knew him from his countless posts on the SETX Sports forums where he never shied away from armchair quarterbacking and offering coaching advice.
