Jo Beth Cochran

Jo Beth Bledsoe Cochran, 87, of Vidor, died August 4, 2017. She was born on June 9th, 1930, the oldest child of Tommie George and Opal Bledsoe in Ten Mile, Texas. She was an outstanding manager and exhibited that talent at an early age. In 1943, when Jo Beth was just 13 and her best friend and sister, Bonna Fay, was 12, they were put in charge of caring for their baby sister, Carolyn, as well as taking care of the house for their daddy while their mother traveled 75 miles away to work in an artillery factory. She graduated in 1947 from Huntsville High School and became the assistant manager for Perry's 5 & 10. She loved that job. Jo Beth married Earl Cochran in 1954 and began managing her household. She was a Christian wife, mother, and grandmother; the spiritual leader of the home, always honoring the Lord. After being a stay-at-home mom for years, she went to work for the school system. She retired in 1992 as a Vidor school cafeteria manager. She loved all kinds of puzzles and games. But most of all she loved the Lord and set a loving example for her husband, children, and grandsons. Her treasures are surely stored up in heaven. Survivors include her husband, Earl Cochran, Sr.; children, Lynette Busceme and husband Jim and Earl Cochran, Jr. and wife Tami; sister, Carolyn Karber and husband Randell; and grandsons, Matthew Busceme and wife, Lauren, Trey Cochran and Lance Cochran; four nephews, one niece & several great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Tommie and Opal Bledsoe; sister, Bonna Fay Young; and grandson, Adam Busceme. Visitation will be Monday, August 7, 2017 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
