Joissine "Jo" Tucker

Joissine Oldbury Tucker was born to Otha Edward and Alice Beulah Oldbury on August 6, 1939, in Vidor, Texas. She was the seventh child of nine children. She loved sports and played basketball for Vidor High School. Jo graduated in the class of 1956. She married her sweetheart, James Ronnow Tucker, in Vidor on January 6, 1956, just before he left for active duty with the U.S. Navy. Jo had several jobs over the years since they moved often due to Ron’s naval career. Those jobs included the Navy Exchange, a shoe factory, a meat market, and Montgomery Ward. After they moved back to Texas, she worked as a bookkeeper and medical biller.
Jo loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, but her favorites were serving with Ron in the Houston Texas Temple and creating the ward bulletin each week for Sunday service. She also enjoyed visiting with the Relief Society at their monthly Lunch Bunch.
Jo loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed road trips with her sister and bowling in her senior league. She loved to watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette, Dr. Phil, and Judge Judy. “Grammer,” as she was lovingly referred to by many, was known for getting stains out of clothes, eating dessert first, facebooking, and working on her computer.
Jo left her earthly existence on Friday, November 12, 2021, and was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Modesta, Burdette, Dean, Freddie, and Blue. She is survived by her daughters: Danita Fruge and Donna Simmons, and son, Anson and his wife Cheryl Tucker, siblings: Delmer and his wife Elaine Oldbury, Nelwyn Marion, and Blaine Oldbury, and sister-in-law, Mary Oldbury. Jo has 16 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
Her visitation will be Friday, November 19, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor and she will have a graveside service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor.
