Jory Wallace Odom

November 13, 1975 — December 31, 2022

Jory Wallace Odom, 47, of Vidor died Saturday, December 31, 2022. Jory was born in Washington D.C. on November 13, 1975. He lived in many locations across the U.S. during his childhood. He graduated from Savoy High School in Texas in 1994. Jory knew everything there was to know about the security and fire alarm industry and many technicians and businesses leaned on him to come to their aid when they couldn’t solve a complicated problem themselves. Football was his passion from Jr. High School on. To say he was a Dallas Cowboys fan was an understatement and his love and many times his frustrations would be verbalized in lengthy phone calls to family and friends after each game. Since the very first Star Wars movie he saw at the theater as a young boy, Jory was hooked. He never got tired of watching and re-watching all the episodes and was a huge Star Trek and Lord of the Rings fan as well. He and his daughter Ashlyn would have conversations often discussing which one was best. His love of space led to one of his favorite hobbies as an astrophotographer capturing some pretty amazing images along his journey. A small viewing was held at Vidor Memorial Funeral Home Saturday, January 14th. There will be a full visitation on February 4th from 9am to 12pm at the funeral home. Jory was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cova and Vera Gross and Wallace Odom all of Vidor and his uncle Frank Gross of Portland, OR. Jory is survived by his son Austin Odom of Gladewater, TX and his daughter Ashlyn Boucher and husband Jacob of Whitehouse, TX, his grandson Draygon and twin grand-daughters Melodie and Marlee. He is also survived by his mother Kathy Odom of Vidor, father Stephen Odom of Savoy, brothers Steve Odom and wife Alex of Boston, MA, Spencer Odom of Beaumont, Ben Odom and wife Amber of Lumberton, sisters Veronica Robinson and husband Jeff of Nacogdoches and Lindy Bruno of Bridge City and his grandmother, Betty Lou Van Pelt of Vidor. Jory held a special place in the hearts of each of his nieces and nephews, Zoey, Gabrielle, Adryanne, Sophia, Benny, Kayden, Ella, Quaid, Olivia and Van. Jory touched so many lives and his one-of-a-kind sense of humor will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
