Keith Otis Michael McCord, 57, of Vidor, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at his residence. A native of Nederland, TX, he was a lifelong resident of Vidor.
Keith graduated from Vidor High School in 1986, where he was a proud member of the Vidor Pirate Marching Band, playing trombone in both the marching and jazz bands. He also competed in track and pole vaulting before attending DeVry and Lamar College.
For 40 years, Keith worked as an HVAC technician, beginning in the family business, M.A.C. Air, and later with Affordable Home Appliance Repair and Air Conditioning. Known for his skill and dependability, Keith served countless families in Southeast Texas throughout his career.
Above all, Keith lived for his children and grandchildren. His happiest moments were spent surrounded by family, where his pride and joy shined most brightly. Known for his generosity, selflessness, and dependability, Keith never met a stranger and would give his last dollar to help someone in need.
Keith devoted more than 30 years to coaching little league football and baseball, where he poured his heart into mentoring his players, loving each one as if they were his own. He also enjoyed spending time at the river and caring for his beloved dogs, who were truly his “fur children.”
A talented singer with a lifelong passion for music, Keith performed throughout the Golden Triangle, was a regular at Rikenjaks in Vidor, and a member of the former band Circuit Breakers. He was also a loyal sports fan, never missing a chance to cheer—sometimes loudly—for the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and his beloved Vidor Pirates.
Keith is survived by his children: Natasia & Scott Booth, Kashia & Michael Welch, Dylane McCord, Gabbriel & Devyn Russell, Josh McCord, and Marcus McCord; grandchildren: Lilly, Nash, Charlotte, Eleanor, Walker, Avery, Gracelyn, and Blakely; and siblings: Catherine Elliot, Lyle & Thuy McCord, Marty & Donna McCord, and Tessie & Mark Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis and Ethel McCord, and his brother, Hollis McCord.
Keith’s life was one of love, laughter, and music. He will be remembered for his generous heart, his devotion to family and community, and the joy he brought to everyone who knew him.
Florist services are provided by Petal Pushers of Vidor. In lieu of flowers or plant donations, a link will be shared for those wishing to contribute to support his children’s living and college expenses.
