Lemuel Ronnie Bates

Lumuel Ronnie Bates, 67 of Beaumont died Monday, February 20th, 2023 at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. A native of Higdon, AL, he was a longtime resident of Illinois before moving to Beaumont a short time ago. Ronnie was a retired truck driver after many years of service. In his free time, Ronnie enjoyed woodworking and was a talented handyman. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Ronnie was precededin death by his daughter Ronica Bates, mother of his children Lillie Steeley and parents Lemuel and Ellen Bates. He is survived by his children Jackie Bates, Bonnie Bates and David Bates all of Beaumont, TX, brothers Ray Bates of Indiana, Stanley Bates and John Bates both of Illinois, sisters Kathy Bixler of Illinois, Donna Workman of Alabama, Debbie Sumberlin, Ellen Thornton and Teresa Lenzen all of Illinois, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and one on the way.
