Leonard Joseph Songe III, aged 75, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 14th, 2024, at his residence. Born in Beaumont, TX, Leonard was a dedicated resident of Vidor for much of his life. He leaves behind a legacy marked by his service to his country, his skilled craftsmanship, and his unwavering devotion to his family. Leonard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, demonstrating his courage and commitment to defending his nation. Following his military service, Leonard embarked on a career as a self-employed carpenter, honing his craft for over five decades. His skillful hands and meticulous attention to detail were evident in every project he undertook. In his youth, Leonard found solace and joy in the great outdoors, particularly through his love for hunting and fishing. These pursuits brought him immense happiness and allowed him to forge cherished memories that he carried throughout his life. Additionally, Leonard had a passion for coaching Little League, where he shared his knowledge and instilled valuable lessons in his sons and grandchildren. Above all else, Leonard cherished spending time with his beloved family. He was a devoted husband to Brenda Songe for 31 years and a loving father to Leonard Joseph Songe IV and wife Meredith of Vidor, TX, Tracy Nichole Wiggins and husband Roger of Groves, TX, Raymond Lamar Songe of Vidor, TX, Rachel Jalyce Britnell and husband Erik of Orange, TX, , Justin Lee Songe of Vidor, TX, and William Andrew Dougherty and wife Beth of Vidor, TX. He found immense joy in his role as a grandfather, leaving behind 13 grandchildren who were the light of his life. Leonard is survived by his siblings, Merl Hegele and husband Gerald of Lufkin, TX, , Delta Daughrity and husband Lynn of Jefferson, TX, , Sandra Hodge and husband Michael of Beaumont, TX, and Harry Songe Sr. and wife Shanna of Crosby, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Joseph Jr. and Eva Songe, and his sister, Priscilla Kay King. Leonard Joseph Songe III will be remembered fondly for his strength, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
