Linton S. Cowart

Linton S. Cowart, Jr., 87, of Rose City, Texas, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, December 24th, 2025.

Linton was born December 13th, 1938 in Beaumont, Texas and was the first-born of Linton, Sr. and Dortha. He lived his early and teen years in Beaumont where he met his future wife, Patricia Ann Dugas, graduated from French High School and married.

He was a highly skilled craftsman who began his trade as an apprentice with Pipe Fitters Local 211, Zone 195 United Association (UA) labor union. He retired after 35 years, amassed over 65,000 hours performing his trade and was highly respected for his precise fabrication of complex industrial components.

As a faithful and active member of Vidor Methodist Church in Vidor for more than 35 years, he served on many committees with a cool head and a peaceful demeanor.

He had many hobbies and interests, but what he loved most was traveling with Pat in their RV travel trailer discovering America. The pinnacle of their travel that filled a permanent place in his heart and mind was their adventure retracing and following the Lewis and Clark Trail.

Linton is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Patricia Ann Dugas Cowart; son Matthew Cowart of Silsbee; daughter Deborah Chavers and husband Seaborn of Kentucky; brother Leonard Cowart and spouse Lynn of Arkansas; sister Linda Etheridge and husband Mark of Central Texas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Linton is remembered for his quiet humor, caring heart and the many lives he touched through his craftsmanship and devotion to faith, family and friends.
