Lloyd Allen Lanclos

November 15, 1932 — June 22, 2023

Lloyd Allen Lanclos, who went by Allen, age 90, of Vidor, Texas passed away peacefully on June 22, 2023, surrounded by family. Allen was born in his maternal grandparent’s home in Arnaudville, Louisiana on November 15, 1932, to Marie Francis DeKerlegand and Joseph Elie Lanclos. He started school in China, Texas then continued his education at St. Anne’s Catholic School when they moved to Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from St. Anthony in 1951. While he was in high school, he joined the Naval Reserve serving four years and receiving an honorable discharge.


After high school, he was employed by Oil City Brass and ran a metal lathe in their machine shop. Then he worked for International Derrick and Equipment Company. He met Margie Ellen Griffith where his mother and Margie worked at Townsend Dairy. Allen and Margie were married on her birthday on Dec. 8, 1955. He was drafted into the Army the following year and they moved to Virginia for 4 months while he completed aircraft repair school. A few months later, he was sent to South Korea for 15 months to repair helicopters. After serving 2 years, he received another honorable discharge for his service in the Army.


Allen then returned to work for ID&E Co. until he started working for Firestone Chemical Plant as a machinist in 1961 and retired after 35 years. He also served as the secretary on the board of directors of Firestone Credit Union. Allen was proud to have run 3 marathons in his late 40’s and early 50’s. He and Margie also enjoyed many years of traveling in their motorhome around the US with their RV group after their retirement. They were married for 67 wonderful years.


Allen is survived by his wife, Margie Lanclos; his three daughters, Phyllis and her husband, Phillip LaCaze, Janet and her husband, Jimmy Daniels, and Carol Draney; four grandchildren, Tiffany and her husband, Michael Frazier, Jana and her husband, Jeremy Green, Ashli and her husband, Kyle Swallow, and Jaxon Draney; two great grandchildren, Abbie Dowden and Kenzi Green; and one sister, Mary (Sis) Robinson. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother, John Lanclos, and his son-in-law, David Draney.


There will be a visitation at 10 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor, Texas with a service to follow at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023. The inurnment will follow immediately after the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas. Servicing as pallbearers are Gene Brown, Jimmy Daniels, Michael Frazier, Jeremy Green, Beau LaCaze, and Phillip LaCaze.


Allen was loved by many and a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. The family would like to express gratitude for the example he left them and to the many friends and family that have reached out in support during their time of grief.
