Michael Leon Runnels Sr.

Michael Leon Runnels Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Michael, 61, of Mauriceville, passed away Tuesday, December 26th, 2023, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. A native of Houston, TX, Michael dedicated 15 years of his life as a Process Operator at Betz before retiring. Beyond his professional life, Michael found joy in the simple pleasures that life had to offer. One of his greatest passions was fishing, a pastime that brought him solace and fulfillment. Yet, Michael's heart found its fullest joy in the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom he shared laughter, love, and boundless affection. Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Judy Runnels of Mauriceville, TX, a pillar of strength and love throughout their journey together. He is also survived by his loving mother Martha Weatherford; children: Latisha Runnels Gonzales of Vidor, TX; Mandy Runnels of Beaumont, TX; and Michael Runnels Jr. of Mauriceville, TX, in addition, Michael is remembered by his brother, John Wayne Runnels of Magnolia, TX, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life. He found delight in watching them grow and creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations. Michael was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Runnels, his father, Buddy Wayne Runnels, and daughter-in-law, Ashley Runnels. Though they have gone before him, their spirits remain a part of the tapestry of his life and the lives of those he leaves behind.
