Joyce Murphy, 93, of Richardson, TX passed on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Grand Brook Memory Care in Garland, TX. Joyce was born in Beaumont, TX in 1932 to Mabel and Lester Miller and spent her schooling years in Mobile, AL graduating from Murphy High School in 1949. Joyce later moved and became a long-time resident of Vidor, TX.
To know Joyce was to know a friend. She loved meeting people, extending her warm smile and a conversation full of southern drawl. Many of Joyce’s lifelong friends were made at the Temple Inland Papermill in Evadale, TX. Her work in key punching, data processing, and payroll was a key part of her life for 35 years. You could not know Joyce without knowing her love for family, the delight of travel, and the joy a week at the beach brought. For years, family vacations on the beach were the highlight of Joyce’s year. Combining sun, sand, and extended family made for some of her fondest memories.
Joyce is survived by her five children, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Her children include her daughter, Pam (Pat) Crabtree in Spring, TX; her son Joe (Vicki) McMillian in Galloway, NJ; her son, Jerry (Lillian) McMillian in Vidor, TX; her daughter, Tracy McShane Wilson in Richardson, TX; and her son, L.J.
