Oleta Phenice Dorsey

Oleta Lea Jones Dorsey, 75, of Vidor, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of Vidor, Oleta was known for her warm and generous spirit, always cherishing the time spent with her friends and family. Oleta found great joy in cooking, and her delicious meals and warm hospitality were well-known to all who had the pleasure of dining at her table. She loved hosting holiday parties, bringing together loved ones to create cherished memories. Dancing was another of her passions, and she delighted in the joy and freedom it brought her. A dedicated homemaker, Oleta raised her children with love and care. She was an active member of Pine Forest Baptist Church in Vidor and spent her last few years working for the Vidor Public School District, where she made many lasting friendships. Oleta is survived by her children, John Joseph Dorsey of Newport Beach, CA, and Janet Leigh Dorsey of Vidor, TX; her loving partner, Jerry Lee Plaster of Vidor, TX; her brothers, Luther and Gary Jones; her sister, Donna Jones Moore; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Luther B. Jones, and her brother, John Jones. Oleta’s vibrant presence and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
