Opal Katherine Huckabay

Opal Katherine Huckabay, age 90, of Vidor, passed away on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, at her residence. Born in Beaumont, Opal was a cherished member of the Vidor community for many years. In her earlier years, Opal worked as a dedicated bank teller, providing service with a warm smile to all who crossed her path. However, her true passion and calling in life lay within the walls of her own home, where she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family. As a longtime homemaker, Opal poured her love and care into creating a nurturing environment for her loved ones. Opal's kitchen was her sanctuary, where she delighted in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Her culinary creations were a testament to her love and brought joy to all who sat at her table. But beyond her culinary talents, Opal's greatest joy came from spending precious moments with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Opal is survived by her loving children, James "JD" Rogers and Theresa of Vidor, TX, and Robert Rogers and wife Marie of Vidor, TX. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Jennifer Mayberry and husband Christian of Nederland, TX, Erin Seals and husband Cory of Buna, TX Jared Rogers and wife Jenna of Bridge City, TX, and Jesse Rogers of Vidor, along with her 8 great-grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Opal was preceded in death by her first husband, James Darwin Rogers, her second husband, Owen Huckabay, and her grandson, Chris Rogers. Opal Katherine Huckabay will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and culinary delights will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace.
