Patsy Marie Porter, a beloved member of the Beaumont community, passed away on Friday, March 29th, 2024, at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. She was 92 years old.
Patsy was a cherished resident of Beaumont, Texas, for many years and an active member of the North End Baptist Church. Her commitment to her faith was evident through her involvement and dedication to church activities. Patsy was a longtime resident of Vidor prior to moving to Beaumont 25 years ago. She graduated from Vidor High School in 1948. She also lived in Honduras for 8 years where her husband worked. After high school she attended Chenier Business School where she studied accounting. She worked briefly for Stone and Webster before moving to Alaska with her husband who was in the Army. While in Alaska she was a civilian secretary at Fort Richardson.
As a devoted homemaker, Patsy found joy in various hobbies. She was particularly fond of sewing, quilting, and participating in water aerobics. Patsy's warmest moments were spent surrounded by her loving family, whom she cherished dearly.
Patsy is survived by her children: Douglas Porter and wife Susan of Beaumont, TX; Gary Porter of Vidor, TX; and Cindy Porter of Beaumont, TX. She is also survived by Five grandchildren: Kara Pack and husband Mike, Amber Winchester and husband Shane, Karen Mangan and husband David, and Krista Spoonemore and husband Hayden, and Emalie Jones. Patsy leaves behind a legacy of love and joy, carried on by her seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tammy from water aerobics at St. Elizabeth outpatient clinic for her exceptional care and support.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents Porter and Beulah Collins, her beloved husband of 72 years Donald Porter, and her brother Ronnie Collins.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to North End Baptist Church 5115 Eastex Freeway Beaumont, TX 77706, for Operation Christmas Child, a cause close to Patsy's heart.
Patsy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit will forever be remembered and cherished by her family and friends.
