Richard “Buck” Volney Taylor Sr., 78, of Vidor, TX, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025, at his residence. Born in Buna, TX, Buck was a longtime resident of Vidor and a proud United States Army veteran, having served three tours during the Vietnam conflict.
He was a dedicated member of First Christian Church in Vidor and spent many years working as a skilled pipefitter with Local Union 195. Buck enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, and he cherished every moment spent with his family. He loved his grandchildren deeply and looked forward to family reunions, where he could be surrounded by those he loved most.
Buck is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Virgie Taylor of Vidor, TX; his children, Richard Taylor Jr. and wife Cynthia of Vidor, TX; Virgil Taylor and wife Lauren of Clinton, MS; Teddy Taylor and wife Rosie Walters of Vidor, TX; and George Taylor and wife Tonya Wiley of Beaumont, TX; his brother, Roy “Spud” Taylor Jr. of Walker, LA; and his sisters, Barbara Brown and husband Johnny of Silsbee, TX; Eliane Midkiff of Vidor, TX; and Dorthy Coe of Walker, LA.
He is also survived by his four grandchildren—Haley Taylor, Savanna Taylor, Shelby Kathryn Taylor, and Jacob Taylor—and one great-grandson, Kannon Hopkins.
Richard’s personal relationship with the Lord, his strong work ethic, unwavering love for his family, and proud service to his country will be remembered by all who knew him.
