Ricky Allen Masters Sr.

Ricky Allen Master, Sr., 79, of Vidor, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. A longtime resident of Vidor, Ricky was a Christian and a member of Pecan Acres Baptist Church. He graduated from Nederland High School and went on to attend Lamar University on a full voice scholarship, where he proudly sang with the Cardinal Singers. Music was always close to his heart. He had a beautiful voice, recorded songs on CDs, and found joy in sharing his talent with others. Ricky worked for Merchant Freight Lines for 20 years. Alongside his beloved wife, Shelby, he co-owned and operated Shelby J Snacks for 30 years before retiring. Through hard work and dedication, they built not only a successful business but also lasting friendships in the community. An avid fisherman, Ricky loved the outdoors—whether it was heading to the lake, birdwatching, or simply enjoying the peace of nature. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends. He also had a special love for his dogs, who brought him much happiness over the years. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shelby Masters of Vidor, Texas; his sons, Ricky Masters Jr. and wife Glinda of Vidor, Texas, and Bart Masters of Vidor, Texas; his siblings, Linda Weatherman and husband Leon of Jacksonville, Texas, and Kelly Masters and wife Robin of Groves, Texas; his grandchildren, Alex Masters of Lumberton, Texas, Taylor Masters of Beaumont, Texas, and Grant Masters of Vidor, Texas; and his great-grandson, Bryson Masters Kenebrew of Beaumont, Texas. Ricky will be remembered for his strong faith, his love of music, his devotion to his family, and the warmth he shared with everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and song that will live on in the hearts of those he cherished most.
