Roger Allen Howell, 71, of Vidor, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at his home.
A longtime resident of Vidor, Roger was a true entrepreneur, known for his hard work, determination, and community spirit. He owned and operated Doc’s Package Store and Elite RV Park, both of which became familiar and welcoming spots to many in the area.
Roger loved spending time outdoors and could often be found tinkering in his yard or tending to his horse. He had a natural talent for making things grow and work, whether it was in his business ventures or his backyard projects.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, and companion of 20 years, Theresa Howell of Vidor, TX; bonus son Trae Burr and wife Teresa of Katy, TX; bonus daughter Kamdyn Wooden of Vidor, TX; sisters Marsha Shifflett and Carol Gary and husband Wade; brother Mike Howell and wife Stephanie; granddaughter Taylor Burr; brothers-in-laws Larry Odom of Vidor, TX, and Steve Odom and wife Darlene of Centerville, TX; along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Roger was preceded in death by his grandparents Willis and Delsey Howell and Fonza and Eva Nutt; parents Ella Alene Howell Jones and Horace Howell; brother David Jones; sisters Myrna Childs and Christine Howell; brothers-in-law Jimmy Shifflett and Bruce Childs; and nephew Caleb Harvey.
Roger will be remembered for his generous heart, his sense of humor, and his deep love for family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed but his legacy of hard work, laughter, and love will live on in the many lives he touched.
