Ronald Dean “Ron" Plumley, 82, went home to Jesus December 22, 2025, to the singing of hymns by family. He was born on January 1, 1943 in Independence, Kansas. He was a resident of Cherryvale and Independence, and later became a resident of Vidor, Texas. Following college and serving in the National Guard and the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, he worked as a telecommunications specialist, and retired with 30 years of service at ARCO Transportation and ARCO Pipeline Company. He also worked at C2 Technologies and his own company, The Two Way Connection.

As a lifelong enthusiast of amateur (HAM) radio, he helped set up repeater towers and encouraged his family and friends to earn their licenses. N0KKW has become a “Silent Key.”

After retirement, he continued to tinker with electronics, and was appreciated by his family as the man who could fix anything. He was always creating fascinating contraptions and repurposing things to make new gadgets.

Ron was deeply devoted to his beloved wife and he cherished time with his kids and grandkids, who fondly called him “Papaw.” His kindness, sense of humor, patient teaching, and steady love will be profoundly missed. His delicious food will be missed too, as he was known for his great cooking. A family game of Chinese Checkers will not be as silly without Papaw.

Ron’s love for the Lord shone through every aspect of his life. He was a faithful servant as the sound technician at many churches, and was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda Plumley of Vidor, Texas; his children, Brent Plumley and wife Soli of Independence, Kansas, Leesa Engroff and husband Chris of Tecumseh, Kansas, Robert Plumley and wife Emily of Arlington, Texas, and Kari Brumbaugh and husband Matthew of Humble, Texas; his brother Daniel Plumley and wife Janet of Cherryvale, Kansas, and sister-in-law Louise Plumley of Cherryvale, Kansas; and 6 grandchildren, Larsen Lindsay, Kaylee Engroff, Laura Plumley, Megan Plumley, Canaan Brumbaugh, and Ada Brumbaugh.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents Jewell and Sue Nell Gilliland Plumley, and his brother Richard Plumley.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held January 23rd at 1:00pm at Woodridge Baptist Church in Kingwood, Texas, where we will gather to honor his memory and rejoice in the promise of eternal life. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made to Samaritan’s Purse.

Ron now rests in the arms of his Savior, free from his earthly pains and diseases, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty.
