Roy "Rl" Leon Whatley Sr.

Roy "RL" Leon Whatley Sr., 80 of Vidor died Thursday, September 30th, 2021 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Eunice, LA, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Roy was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Vidor. He was a welder for pipeline Local Union # 798. Roy loved all of his family especially his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his dog Roxie. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. Roy also liked working his land and receiving kisses from his great grandchildren Matthew "MJ" and William. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Friday, October 1, 2021 at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor. Roy was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Emma Whatley, brother Cecil Whatley and sister Katherine Alleman. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Virginia "Polly" Whatley, son Roy Leon Whatley Jr., daughter Miranda Wyatt and husband Stephen all of Vidor, TX, sisters Shirley Johnson of Silsbee, TX, Gwen Godeaux and husband Jerry of Vidor, TX, Doris Shifflett of Port Neches, TX, brother Gerald Whatley and wife Donna of Vidor, TX, 2 grandchildren Matthew Wyatt and his fiancee' Tiffany and Cody Wyatt and his wife Robin and 4 great grandchildren William, Matthew "MJ", Zach and Grace.
