Ruth Wood

Ruth Wood, 90, of Vidor died Monday, June 8th, 2015 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas. She was born in Matagorda County, Texas but lived in Vidor for the last 56 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her son, Thomas A. Wood, brother, George R. Ward and daughter-in-law, Virginia Drake Wood. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Donna Bowen Wood Brown of Vidor, 2 sons, Bobby F. Wood and wife Jan of Diboll, Texas and Larry C. Wood of Vidor, daughter, Patsy Ann Hetzel and husband Albert of Vidor, sister, Julia Stewart of Kirbyville, and sister-in-law, Rose Marshall Ward of Lufkin. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. After retiring from Weingarten Food Store after 26 years, Ruth went to work for Wal-Mart in Vidor where she worked for 31 years. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home with interment to follow at Williamson Cemetery in Vidor.
