Steven “Steve” Leslie Wheat, 81, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas in Beaumont, Texas.
Steve was born in Blytheville, Arkansas, and later made Vidor his home, where he lived for many years. He attended First Baptist Church in Vidor and was well known for his friendly nature and strong work ethic. Steve spent his career in sales; a profession well suited to his easygoing personality and love of visiting with people.
In his free time, Steve enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved fishing and hunting. He could often be found working in the yard, tinkering in the garage, or cooking steaks on the grill. Some of his favorite moments were spent around the pool, sharing laughter and making memories with his family, as well as visiting with friends and loved ones.
Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who cherished his family deeply.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat Wheat of Vidor, Texas; daughters Kelley Peck and her husband, Christopher, of Vidor, Texas, and Stephanie Wheat of Vidor, Texas; brother Roger Wheat of Vidor, Texas; and grandsons Allen Peck and Colton Peck.
Steve will be remembered for his love of family, his warm spirit, and the many memories he leaves behind with those who knew and loved him.
