Tammy Alise Smith

Tammy Alise Smith, 59, of Vidor, passed away Friday, April 25, 2025, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Facility in Beaumont, Texas. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, Tammy made her home in Vidor for many years, where she touched countless lives with her compassion, humor, and boundless energy.

Tammy was a proud member of Lumberton Church of Christ and a retired cafeteria worker from Vidor Junior High, where she made a lasting impact on students and staff alike with her warm smile and caring heart. Her love for animals led her to dedicate 15 years running PAWS of Beaumont, a pet rescue organization that found homes for countless four-legged friends.

She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Jared Smith of Vidor, TX; sons Jason Manning and wife Michelle of Hudson, Florida, Ryan Smith of Beaumont, Texas, and Taylor Smith and wife Laci of Vidor, Texas; and her cherished grandchildren, Wyatt Manning of Hudson, Florida, and Rhea Alise Smith, expected to arrive this July. Tammy is also survived by her brother Robert Thornton and wife Shawna of Powder Springs, GA; sisters Sandy Poole and husband Laney of Jena, LA, Nalla Green and husband Rick of Deweyville, TX, and Maureen Pierce and husband George of Port Arthur, TX; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many specially loved children who considered her a second mother.

Tammy was preceded in death by her parents, Margot Delahoussaye and Richard Thornton; her son, Gill Allen Thornton; and her brother, Gill Thornton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Harrell, Joel Roschke II, Albert Hawkins, Chris Boudreaux, Dustin Boudreaux, and Drew Pierce.

Tammy’s kind heart, unwavering faith, and devotion to family, friends, and animals will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
