Vanessa Summers Chesser

December 19, 1961 — January 8, 2024

Vanessa Summers Chesser, 62, of Vidor, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8th, 2024, at her home. Vanessa was a cherished member of the Vidor community, having spent much of her life in this welcoming town.

A dedicated member of Maplecrest Baptist Church, Vanessa found comfort and community in her faith. As a homemaker, she found joy in the simple pleasures of life, with a wide range of hobbies that brought her happiness.

Vanessa loved engaging her mind with puzzles and playing solitaire. She had a creative side, spending time crocheting and collecting pictures of her beloved family. Watching movies, spending quality time with her grandchildren, and cooking were among the many activities that filled her heart with joy. Vanessa shared a special bond with her dad over fishing trips and cherished those moments spent by the water.

Services to celebrate Vanessa's life will begin with a visitation at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, followed by interment at Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor.

Vanessa is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Van Malcolm Chesser of Vidor, TX. She is also survived by her children: Reenay Lowe and husband Billy Jack Traylor of Vidor, TX; Kris Summers and wife Shannon Scott of Beaumont, TX; Melanie Richard of Vidor, TX; Amy Quinlan and husband James of McKinney, TX; and Jason Chesser of Vidor, TX. Vanessa's memory lives on through her siblings: Joe Summers of Abilene, TX; Zina Herrington and husband Gary of Roby, TX; and Tisha Armentrout of Vidor, TX. She leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Vanessa was preceded in death by her parents, Jackie Summers and Shirley Minchew, brothers Tony Summers, Matt Summers, and Marshall Disedare, and son Nicholas Gene Summers.

May Vanessa Summers Chesser rest in peace, and may her family find solace in the beautiful memories they shared with her.
