Vivian Church Hayes, 95, of Vidor Texas passed away, October 24, 2013. She was born in Traskwood, Arkansas, to Otis and Eva Lena Church. Vivian’s greatest joy came as she fulfilled and magnified her roles as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved music, drama, dance and supporting her posterity in all of their activities. Vivian graduated from Lamar University with honors in English and taught English for more than a decade at Vidor Middle School. Vivian was married to her beloved husband, Wade Hayes, for 73 years. They have resided in Southeast Texas since 1941. Vivian was a vibrant member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, where she served for many years with youth and children. Vivian was loved by all of those who knew her. She leaves a lasting legacy of love and faith for her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Wade, her oldest son, Dr. Marshall Wade Hayes of Beaumont, and youngest daughter, Rachel Myers of Santa Fe, Texas. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Sarah Hayes Packard, and youngest son, William Spencer Hayes, and granddaughter, Rachelle Packard. Vivian’s posterity includes 25 grandchildren, 97 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 29th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 6198 North FM 105, Vidor, Texas 77662. Funeral services will be held at the same location on Wednesday, October 30th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Williamson Cemetery. The Hayes family would like to express appreciation to the many friends whose acts of kindness and sympathy have touched their hearts.
