William “Tommy” Thomas Hammonds Sr., 91, of Vidor, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7th, 2025, at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont.
Born in Grand Prairie, Texas, Tommy was a longtime resident of Vidor and a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #450, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for more than 60 years.
Tommy was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his horses. In his younger years, he enjoyed rodeoing and had a deep appreciation for the country way of life. Known for his hardworking spirit and kind heart, he was deeply loved by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Sue Ann Smith and husband Buddy of Vidor, TX; William “Tom” T. Hammonds Jr. and wife Cindy of Mauriceville, TX; and Johnny Lee Hammonds and wife Michelle of Vidor, TX; his sisters Dora Lee McGlasson of Austin, TX, and Wanda Foxworth and husband Larry of Georgetown, TX; and his brother Arthur Lee Hammonds of Ivanhoe, TX.
Tommy is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and more than 50 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Hammonds.
Tommy leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and laughter — one that will live on through the many generations of his family.
